An Autumn Afternoon

It was a sunny autumn afternoon at Hogganfield Loch, although the calendar was already close to turning over into December. That late-November feeling was part of the visit: still autumn, but only just.

The loch was quiet, which made this a peaceful flight. There was no need to make the outing into anything more complicated than it was. It was simply a chance to spend some time above the loch on a bright afternoon and take in the calm around it.

Hogganfield Loch is in the north-east of Glasgow, within Hogganfield Park, and is the main feature of the local nature reserve. Its broad, shallow water and wooded island give the park a distinctive shape from above.

For this flight, though, the strongest memory is the stillness of the place. With the sun out and very little going on, it felt like a gentle way to close out an autumn afternoon before December arrived.
