17 July 2026
On 17 July 2026, I went back to Hogganfield Loch for a summer visit. It was a lovely, sunny day, and the main thing I wanted to take in was all the greenery around the loch.
Coming back at this time of year gave the place a properly summer feel. The trees, grass and waterside growth were all looking full and green, which made this a simple but enjoyable outing. There was no particular plan beyond spending some time there and appreciating how different the loch looked in the middle of summer.
Hogganfield Loch sits within Hogganfield Park Local Nature Reserve in north-east Glasgow. The loch is the centre of the reserve, which includes a mix of surrounding woodland, grassland and wetland habitat.
This was a relaxed return visit rather than anything more complicated: a sunny day, plenty of summer colour, and a chance to take in a familiar place when everything was looking at its greenest.
